LASALLIAN STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Every month, Lasallian Youth recognizes a student as the Lasallian Student of the Month.   They are recognized for consistently modeling the five Lasallian core principles every day at O'Hara:

Living faith in the presence of God
Showing respect for all persons
Working for inclusive community
Striving for a quality education
Manifesting concern for the poor and social justice

Those recognized thus far this year:
Chelsea Rose, September
Alex Stockard, October
JeVon Lyle, November

Congratulations!

2009 Summer Gathering

This year our Midwest Lasallian Youth Summer Gathering will be in Memphis, with our home base at Christian Brothers University.  Dates are Sunday, July 26 through Friday, July 31.  Start thinking about your possible participation, including cost ($275) - more information will be coming soon!  Permission forms will be available outside my room (410) by December 5.

Meeting reminder

Greetings!

Sorry that I've neglected updates here.  This will be kept up on a more regular basis!

Lasallian Youth had a good time haunting at Paradise Park on Halloween night and the night of November 1.  We helped raise money for the Lee's Summit parishes, and made 11 tickets to the Haunted Maze available to Catholic school students who could not otherwise afford to go.  Well done to all who helped out!

We will meet on Thursday to work on mission collections and a lock in for peace during Advent.  See you at 7:40!

September 18 meeting

Don't forget to bring your ideas for an October activity to the Thursday meeting!  We have a suggestion of a haunted house for little kids!

Also, we need to agree on a date for the bowling and pizza night so we can get our new posters up!

Meeting starts with prayer.

See you Thursday - bring a friend!

Web page

LY at O'Hara also has a web page. You can click here to see it.

If you can't find the info you need on the web page or here, please talk with Mr. Meyer or Brother Chuck!

Next activity!

Members of LY will be participating in the Midwest District's Lasallian Youth Summer Gathering from July 20-25 at Lewis University in the Chicago area, hosted by our Chicago Lasallian brothers and sisters at Driscoll Catholic High School, Montini High School, De La Salle Institute, St. Patrick's High School, and St. Joseph's High School. Our schedule includes a heavy dose of service (yea!), community discussion, prayer, and Lasallian learning.

Members attending are reminded that Mr. Meyer needs the Chicago permission forms by Tuesday, May 27!

Welcome!

Welcome to Archbishop O'Hara High School's Lasallian Youth blog!

Please check in regularly with us to find out the latest about LY, which is our Lasallian youth group, working together, and in association with other high school youth throughout the Midwest District of the Christian Brothers, to promote faith, service, and community both at O'Hara and in the world in which we live. If you want face to face contact, please see me (Mr. Meyer) or Brother Chuck!
